CNPEM 360
The Virtual Tour of the CNPEM offers visitors an immersive experience with functionalities inspired by the most modern exhibitions at museums and universities. CNPEM 360 combines more than 40 panoramic images and 150 spots with multimedia content like videos, photos, infographics, drone imagery, and animations, as well as presentations by professionals who work at CNPEM.
Funded with resources from the MCTI and MEC’s Science in School Program, CNPEM 360 was developed to present the CNPEM’s activities, encourage creativity, and honor Brazilian science.
Cápsula da Ciência
Take a 360-degree trip through the microscopic world in the Cápsula da Ciência (Science Capsule), the CNPEM’s digital immersion experience. In a 95 m2 dome, visitors take a deep dive into molecules and atoms in investigations involving major scientific questions, in search of solutions to problems that challenge our society. The Science Capsule is funded by the MCTI, and was on the road between October 10 and December 17, 2022, traveling through Brazil’s five regions from north to south, with stops in seven cities: Gaspar (SC), Campinas (SP), Guarapari (ES), Lagarto (SE), Quixeramobim (CE), Brasília (DF), and Manaus (AM).
Visit programs
The objectives of the CNPEM’s Visit Program are to inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology, perform institutional outreach for the CNPEM as a reference institution for the practice of science, create closer ties between the Center and potential users of its scientific facilities (from research and teaching institutions as well as the corporate world), and stir feelings of belonging, pride, and recognition for Brazilian science.
Ciência Aberta
The doors of the Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) were opened once again at Ciência Aberta 2026. The seventh edition of the event repeated the successful format introduced in 2024, with two days of activities on May 29 and 30. The first day, a Friday, was dedicated to school groups and excursions.
On the second day, a Saturday, the general public could access the campus. Ciência Aberta 2026 was attended by 30,000 people over two days. The public was able to see Sirius, the Brazilian particle accelerator, up close and enjoy more than a hundred activities over May 29 and 30.
Inside CNPEM
The Inside CNPEM annual report is a bilingual publication directed toward the general public that presents highlights and important accomplishments by the Center and its collaborators during the previous year. This survey of notable articles, events, new technologies, and relevant materials demonstrates the ongoing search for solutions and refinements of the team and the infrastructure at the CNPEM as part of Brazilian and global production of science and technology.
