Institutional visiting program

The objectives of the CNPEM’s Visit Program are to inspire young people to pursue careers in science and technology, perform institutional outreach for the CNPEM as a reference institution for the practice of science, create closer ties between the Center and potential users of its scientific facilities (from research and teaching institutions as well as the corporate world), and stir feelings of belonging, pride, and recognition for Brazilian science.

This page contains the form to schedule visits for groups of students from high schools, technical schools, and universities. These visits take place weekly on Wednesdays, with two time slots available. Consult the dates and times available in the scheduling form below.

Visits currently take place in Sirius, Latin America’s only particle accelerator, which was planned and developed by Brazilians. Throughout the tour visitors not only learn more about Sirius, which was the most complex project in Brazilian science, but also come into contact with the various research fronts that are addressed here at the CNPEM in the National Laboratories and the Ilum School of Science.

Groups from companies interested in establishing partnerships and collaborations with the CNPEM should scroll down to the form below.

Small groups (up to 10 people) are not included in the weekly visit program, but the CNPEM has other incentives directed at the general public such as the Open Science event and the CNPEM 360 virtual tour. To learn more about our event scheduling and tour updates, follow us on social media.

Every year the number of participants grows: 16,000 people participated in the most recent version in 2023. You can learn more about Ciência Aberta at the event website.

The Value of Science

Science is everywhere. It is the knowledge that made humanity evolve and illuminates the paths to the future. This light also shines in Brazil. The CNPEM presents “The Value of Science,” our vision for research and development in Brazil and around the world.

CNPEM Origins | ep. 1

The “Origins” series presents the CNPEM’s areas of activity through statements by its partners. This series contains four episodes that highlight the vision and the words of those who use, contribute to, conduct research, and innovate at the CNPEM.

Sirius Webdoc | ep. 1

The web documentary “Sirius: Accelerating the Future of Science” contains seven independent episodes that explain the main challenges involved in developing the largest scientific infrastructure ever constructed in Brazil.

Inside CNPEM

The Inside CNPEM annual report is a bilingual publication directed toward the general public that presents highlights and important accomplishments by the Center and its collaborators during the previous year. This survey of notable articles, events, new technologies, and relevant materials demonstrates the ongoing search for solutions and refinements of the team and the infrastructure at the CNPEM as part of Brazilian and global production of science and technology.
