Communication of LNBio – 2nd August 2013
LNBio was present at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), along with the three other National Laboratories that integrate the Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM): the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS),the Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology (CTBE) and the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory (LNNano).
The LNBio researcher, Ana Carolina Zeri, LNBio.Educa project coordinator and head of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance facility, offered to the CNPEM stand visitors the opportunity to use a MiScope microscope from Zarbeco, through which visitors could observe many common objects at a magnification of 40 to 140 times, as well a Celestron microscope, which allows up to 1600x total magnification. The observed materials, such as ants, fabric, hair, saliva, beach sand and puddle water, were collected by the participants themselves at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) Campus, the event headquarters. Check out the microscope images here.
In addition to these optical microscope observations, the visitors to the CNPEM stand at the 65th Annual Meeting of the Brazilian Society for the Advancement of Science (SBPC), were able to observe images obtained with the electron microscopes at the Brazilian Nanotechnology National Laboratory.
