The Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) is offering a Level 3 Technical Training (TT3) research position funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), linked to FAPESP Project 2022/03873-4.
This project is in the area of molecular and structural biology, within the Immunity and Pathogens Division research group in the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio) at CNPEM. Graduates in the areas of health or chemistry who are eligible for the scholarship will be considered, and should send their documentation via e-mail by October 20; more details can be found below.
Requirements for the TT3 FAPESP fellowship
Interested candidates should have an undergraduate degree in chemistry, biology, pharmacy, or related courses and meet FAPESP’s requirements listed at Capacitação Técnica (fapesp.br), which include no failing grades on their degree transcript. The successful candidate will also be expected to dedicate 40 hours per week to the project.
Applicants should also have knowledge in microbiology, biochemistry, macromolecular chemistry and/or cell culture, lab organization and good practices, statistical treatment of data, and the ability to draft reports, as well as intermediate English.
Differentials include previous experience with techniques involved in biochemistry, macromolecular chemistry, cell biology, microscopy, or molecular biology.
Responsibilities
- Use molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and/or microbiology techniques.
- Product recombinant proteins and purify them using chromatography.
- Extract and quantify RNA/DNA.
- Conduct assays involving enzyme kinetics, anisotropy, interferometry, etc.
- Micro-organism and cell culture.
- Test bioactive molecules in biochemical and phenotype assays.
Fellowship funding: R$ 1,710.00, as defined by FAPESP (https://fapesp.br/16881/tabela-de-valores-de-bolsas-no-pais-a-partir-de-01082024).
