Molecular biology is essential for identifying and characterizing infectious agents and toxins. Orion will have third- and fourth-generation sequencing technologies and platforms for quantitative and digital PCR for rapid and precise quantification of genes and genomes. There will also be tools for molecular cloning and genome modification like CRISPR-Cas9, which can be used to explore the biology of molecular targets and pathogenic microorganisms.
