The Brazilian Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) has a postdoctoral position, with a pre-approved scholarship in the budget quota of a Thematic Project of the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP), in Cancer Biology. The project aims to investigate the metabolism of glutamine in the profile of immune cells infiltrating the tumor microenvironment.
Many women with breast cancer who initially respond to hormonal therapies grow resistant and the disease worsens. Thus, it is vital to develop science aimed at discovering new therapeutic approaches.
The selected fellow will work in the Cancer Biology Laboratory of the Brazilian Biosciences National Laboratory (LNBio) and will implement murine models to study estrogen-positive (ER+) breast cancer, aiming to evaluate the role of the enzyme glutaminase in establishing resistance to hormone therapy. This approach will require the use of advanced gene-editing techniques and adeno-associated vectors to modify the mammary epithelium in situ. We aim to create ER+ tumors and study the impact of glutamine metabolism, particularly immune cell infiltrates on tumor development.

The following requirements apply to candidates:
- Have a degree and doctorate in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, or related areas, with no failed courses on the academic transcript.

- CRISPR/Cas9.
- Fluorescence optical microscopy.
- Histology.
- Immunology.
- Commitment to research, organization, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.
