Como um gigantesco microsc\u00f3pio, o acelerador produz a chamada luz \u201cs\u00edncrotron\u201d, que os cientistas utilizam para desvendar a estrutura at\u00f4mica de materiais. Desenvolvido pelo Laborat\u00f3rio Nacional de Luz S\u00edncrotron (LNLS), o Sirius faz parte da terceira gera\u00e7\u00e3o dessas m\u00e1quinas e ser\u00e1 uma das melhores fontes de luz s\u00edncrotron do mundo. A Weg ir\u00e1 produzir os eletro\u00edm\u00e3s do acelerador, que guiam a trajet\u00f3ria dos el\u00e9trons.
