Isso, em parte, se deve ao aumento sistem\u00e1tico do brilho ao longo dos anos, o que permite novos experimentos e novas t\u00e9cnicas.<\/p>\n<p>O Brasil, por meio do LNLS, desenvolveu a tecnologia e construiu a primeira fonte de luz s\u00edncrotron no hemisf\u00e9rio Sul, ainda \u00fanica na Am\u00e9rica Latina. Desde 1997, o LNLS opera esse equipamento como uma facilidade aberta.<\/p>\n<p>Apesar desse sucesso, a atual fonte brasileira \u00e9 uma m\u00e1quina de segunda gera\u00e7\u00e3o, com perda cont\u00ednua de competitividade. Desde 2008, o LNLS trabalha no projeto e constru\u00e7\u00e3o do novo s\u00edncrotron brasileiro, o Sirius, uma das maiores e mais complexas infraestruturas cient\u00edficas j\u00e1 constru\u00eddas no pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n<p>Concebido como um s\u00edncrotron de 4<sup>a<\/sup> gera\u00e7\u00e3o, projeto 100% nacional e um dos mais avan\u00e7ados do mundo, o Sirius abrir\u00e1 enormes oportunidades para o estudo de materiais \u2013 org\u00e2nicos e inorg\u00e2nicos \u2013 com grau de detalhe sem precedentes.<\/p>\n<p>A palestra ocorrer\u00e1 no Audit\u00f3rio Abrah\u00e3o de Moraes do Instituto de F\u00edsica, rua do Mat\u00e3o, travessa R, 187, Cidade Universit\u00e1ria.
