The National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI) ranking, released on April 26, shows the Center holding the 24th position<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The National Institute of Intellectual Property (INPI) released, on April 26th, the list of the fifty institutions with the highest number of patent deposits in Brazil. The ranking, which gathers data from 2021, features the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials (CNPEM) occupying the 24th position \u2013 an advance of 18 positions compared to 2020, when the Center occupied the 42nd position. The INPI historically releases its list around April 26, the date in which the World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated.<\/p>\n

In 2021, CNPEM filed 19 patent applications in technological areas such as particle accelerators, automotive parts based on renewable materials, adhesive developed without the use of solvents, sensors for various applications, catalysts for food inputs, foam for environmental decontamination, health, and petrochemical sectors.<\/p>\n

Patricia Toledo, innovation manager at CNPEM, highlights that the Center joined the ranking of the fifty largest patent depositors in 2020 for the first time. According to Toledo, \u201cthe Center’s rise in the ranking of INPI’s national depositors reflects the innovation potential of the results of R&D activities carried out at CNPEM, and the Innovation Advisory’s effort to protect them, with the aim of facilitating their transfer for the productive sector and subsequent availability in the market, for use by society, expanding the social impact of our activities\u201d.<\/p>\n

In addition to the deposits in Brazilian territory, CNPEM has also been committed to protecting its technologies internationally, expanding licensing possibilities for potential partners in different continents.
