O trabalho dos cientistas revelou a &#8220;impress\u00e3o digital&#8221; dos rejeitos e mapeou eles do Rio Doce at\u00e9 a chegada ao Oceano Atl\u00e2ntico, no litoral norte do Esp\u00edrito Santo, distante 400 km do local da trag\u00e9dia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"wall protected-content\">\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"46\" data-block-id=\"4\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Realizado por pesquisadores da Universidade Federal do Esp\u00edrito Santo (UFES) com ajuda do CNPEM, o trabalho, rec\u00e9m publicado em uma revista cient\u00edfica, identifica um conjunto de minerais presentes apenas nos res\u00edduos de minera\u00e7\u00e3o que eram armazenados na barragem, criando um marcador \u00fanico para o rastreamento.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"41\" data-block-id=\"5\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">Marcos Tadeu Orlando, f\u00edsico nuclear da UFES, ressalta que a identifica\u00e7\u00e3o dessa &#8220;assinatura&#8221;, poss\u00edvel apenas com os recursos tecnol\u00f3gicos do Laborat\u00f3rio Nacional de Luz S\u00edncrotron (LNLS), trouxe consenso entre os pesquisadores para identificar quais minerais s\u00e3o, de fato, oriundos da barragem.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"28\" data-block-id=\"6\">\n<blockquote class=\"content-blockquote theme-border-color-primary-before\"><p>&#8220;N\u00f3s n\u00e3o ter\u00edamos como descobrir uma diferen\u00e7a entre uma hematita vinda do rejeito e a encontrada no leito do rio. Isso s\u00f3 foi poss\u00edvel com a luz s\u00edncrotron, que identificou um conjunto de minerais de ferro, como magnetita, goethita e grennalita, que n\u00e3o tinham em outras amostras, n\u00e3o existia antes&#8221;, pontua.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"30\" data-block-id=\"11\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">\u00c9 como se o material passasse a ter um RG, e fosse poss\u00edvel identific\u00e1-lo em diferentes amostras. Parte deles se movimenta, por exemplo, durante chuvas que movimentam a lama contaminada.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"18\" data-block-id=\"16\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">&#8220;As concentra\u00e7\u00f5es que detectamos na foz n\u00e3o diminuem, e as concentra\u00e7\u00f5es para o norte continuam aumentando&#8221;, destaca Orlando.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"27\" data-block-id=\"17\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">An\u00e1lises feitas pelo grupo de pesquisa da UFES apontam que esses min\u00e9rios est\u00e3o avan\u00e7ando pelo mar ao norte, em dire\u00e7\u00e3o ao Parque Nacional de Abrolhos, na Bahia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"3\" data-block-id=\"19\">\n<div class=\"content-intertitle\">\n<h3>Avan\u00e7o dos estudos<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"47\" data-block-id=\"20\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">O f\u00edsico nuclear v\u00ea o trabalho como uma etapa inicial para dimensionar os reais impactos da trag\u00e9dia ambiental. E aposta que a abertura de linhas de pesquisa do superlaborat\u00f3rio Sirius pode ajudar a desvendar altera\u00e7\u00f5es que a contamina\u00e7\u00e3o por min\u00e9rios j\u00e1 teria provocado no ecossistema da regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles\" data-block-type=\"raw\" data-block-weight=\"44\" data-block-id=\"21\">\n<blockquote class=\"content-blockquote theme-border-color-primary-before\"><p>&#8220;N\u00f3s s\u00f3 fizemos um pedacinho, o importante ainda est\u00e1 por vir. O trabalho que revelou a impress\u00e3o digital dos rejeitos foi realizado no antigo acelerador de part\u00edculas, o UVX, desativado em 2019 para dar lugar ao novo equipamento, de 4\u00aa gera\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"62\" data-block-id=\"27\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\">&#8220;S\u00e3o v\u00e1rias vantagens quando passamos do UVX para o Sirius. A primeira, em termos de fluxo. O Sirius \u00e9 muito mais brilhante, tem muito mais luz, ordens de grandeza a mais. Tal estudo teve por objetivo avaliar de maneira criteriosa, com aux\u00edlio de modelos computacionais, o comportamento do rejeito na zona costeira marinha da foz do rio Doce, em consequ\u00eancia do rompimento da barragem de Fund\u00e3o. O estudo consolidou de maneira ampla os dados dispon\u00edveis que abrangeram o per\u00edodo de novembro de 2015 at\u00e9 junho de 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"mc-column content-text active-extra-styles \" data-block-type=\"unstyled\" data-block-weight=\"106\" data-block-id=\"46\">\n<p class=\"content-text__container \" data-track-category=\"Link no Texto\" data-track-links=\"\"><em>Dentre os principais resultados, o estudo mostrou que a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o e a extens\u00e3o da pluma de rejeito no mar foram tempor\u00e1rias, ocorrendo predominantemente para sul da foz do Rio Doce. A ocorr\u00eancia de concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de rejeito com potencial de causar altera\u00e7\u00f5es significativas na qualidade da \u00e1gua ficaram restritas a poucos quil\u00f4metros da embocadura do rio. Tamb\u00e9m se observou que a contribui\u00e7\u00e3o de rejeito foi significativa apenas at\u00e9 meados de mar\u00e7o de 2016.
