Foto: wikipedia<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>O su\u00ed\u00e7o Jacques Dubochet, o escoc\u00eas Richard Henderson e o alem\u00e3o Joachim Frank foram laureados com o <strong>Pr\u00eamio Nobel de Qu\u00edmica<\/strong> de 2017 pelo desenvolvimento da <strong>microscopia crioeletr\u00f4nica<\/strong>. De acordo com o comit\u00ea do Nobel, os tr\u00eas cientistas foram premiados \u201cpor desenvolver a microscopia crioeletr\u00f4nica para a determina\u00e7\u00e3o de alta resolu\u00e7\u00e3o das estruturas de biomol\u00e9culas em solu\u00e7\u00f5es\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Em fevereiro, Marin van Heel, pesquisador do Laborat\u00f3rio Nacional de Nanotecnologia (LNNano), integrante do Centro Nacional de Pesquisa em Energia e Materiais (CNPEM), localizado em Campinas (SP), ganhou o pr\u00eamio Pr\u00eamio Wiley em Ci\u00eancias Biom\u00e9dicas, juntamente com dois dos vencedores do Nobel, Richard Henderson e Joachim Frank.<\/p>\n<p>Marin tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 um dos pioneiros da t\u00e9cnica e atua desde 2012 para consolidar a \u00e1rea de pesquisa em criomicroscopia eletr\u00f4nica no Brasil, mais especificamente, no campus do CNPEM. Al\u00e9m de atuar no LNNano, van Heel \u00e9 Professor Em\u00e9rito da Universidade de Leiden, na Holanda, e do Imperial College, de Londres, na Inglaterra.<\/p>\n<p>A criomicroscopia beneficia principalmente pesquisas nas \u00e1reas da Sa\u00fade, Farm\u00e1cia, Qu\u00edmica e Biologia. Com resolu\u00e7\u00e3o pr\u00f3ximas \u00e0 escala at\u00f4mica, a t\u00e9cnica gera dados que podem ser a base para o desenvolvimento de novos medicamentos, por exemplo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Criomicroscopia no Brasil<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O CNPEM tem investido na \u00e1rea de criomicroscopia h\u00e1 alguns anos. Em 2012, por meio de uma bolsa do Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cient\u00edfico e Tecnol\u00f3gico (CNPq) na modalidade Pesquisador Visitante Especial, Marin van Heel juntou-se \u00e0 equipe do Centro para consolidar a \u00e1rea de pesquisa em criomicroscopia eletr\u00f4nica no Brasil.<\/p>\n<p>A iniciativa do CNPEM contempla uma infraestrutura pioneira na Am\u00e9rica Latina, que contar\u00e1 com tr\u00eas microsc\u00f3pios eletr\u00f4nicos de transmiss\u00e3o abertos \u00e0 comunidade cient\u00edfica. Dois equipamentos j\u00e1 est\u00e3o instalados \u2013 um deles est\u00e1 aberto a usu\u00e1rios externos e o outro ser\u00e1 disponibilizado ainda em 2017. Ambos foram adquiridos com recursos do Sistema Nacional de Laborat\u00f3rios em Nanotecnologia (SisNano).
